Fishing
There are numerous lakes dotted around this area of Brittany, all ideal for fishing. From the lakes in Reminiac and Monteneuf (below right photo) to the huge `Lac au Duc` in Ploermel. Prefer rivers? You have the choice of L`Oust or the Nantes / Brest canal at Malestroit, La Villaine at Redon or even the Loire at Nantes.

There's plenty of places to buy your rods, tackle and feed (maggots and stuff). You can get it all from the specialist fishing shop in the square at Malestroit. Or perhaps more simply from the local supermarket in Malestroit ...Super U.

It`s also easy to get a day or weekly permit. Just pop in the bakers shop at Monteneuf (or the bar at Reminiac) and they will sell you one for a few euros. You can either buy a daily, fortnightly or annual permit (the annual permit is 69Euros). How about deep sea fishing? Then go to the Port d’Etel (Tel: 02 97 55 23 80), they are very helpful. You can do half a day or a whole day if you prefer. Below are Reminiac and Monteneuf lakes.

Try this lake, just a few hundred yards from Verte...

Below is the canal at St Congard- about 15 minutes away.

Walking
If you like a bit of fresh air then there's so much to choose from. The Brittany countryside is covered in old paths and tracks. Either set out on your own to explore or follow one of the many marked routes. The nearest one to Jaune & Crème starts about 200m away. If you want a choice then just pop up the road to Guer where there's nine to select from ranging from 2-20km in length. Why not go to the centre of Reminiac where there`s a large map showing all the local walks? Failing that nip up to the coast and take a walk along some of the spectacular cliff tops.

Golf
Golf Lac au Duc
I don’t play golf so I can't say much about the course at Ploermel but I am told it is very good. It's about fifteen minutes drive away, costs about €30 per day and you can play as many rounds as you like. There are nine holes (par 36) over twenty five hectares and also a putting green and a driving range. There are others to try as well such as at Le Chateau de Locguenole at Hennebont, Les Abbatiales at Baden, Le Tronchet near St Malo, Gaea at Lancieux and Golf de Caden (at Caden). There`s also an 18 hole 6686 yard course at Carnac (St Laurent).

Minigolf
There`s an eighteen hole mini course near Guegon and also one at Pelliac. Great for aspiring golfers.

Crazy golf
There are a few of these around, Pellac`s nearest but why not try the one at Damgan ? It's about two minutes walk from the beach.

At Pellac you can play on the 18 hole course for as long as you like for two Euros each. Every time we`ve been we`ve been the only ones there. Afterwards cross over the road and take a walk up the canal towpath or go into La Ciboulette with it`s terrace overlooking the canal and have a spot of lunch - Set meal for only 10 Euros.

Tennis
Just nip up the road a mile or two and play on the courts at Monteneuf or Ploermel. Fancy a game at the seaside ? No problem just slip fifty yards off the beach at Damgan and the courts are there waiting for you.

Swimming Pools
There is a whole host of pools. The nearest is five minutes away at Guer. It’s a fairly new indoor pool (about 25 metres long)– nice and clean and only about 50p for children to get in. Ploermel pool is larger and about ten minutes drive.

Want a dip in the open air ? Then go to the lido at Serent or even better the one at La Gacilly (below). This is a really low cost option for an afternoon out.

The outdoor swimming at La Gacilly consists of two large pools and a jacuzzi. There,s diving boards as well and the deep end of one of the pools goes right down to 14 feet. The other one, though is no deeper than four feet so better for non swimmers. There's a large seating area around the pools (both terrace and grass) and they supply sun loungers and park benches for free so if you don't want to go in yourself you can just take it easy, read a book and let the children have all the fun on their own. We recommend taking a picnic. Best of all is the entrance price- 50 cents for non swimmers and 1 Euro 50 cents for the swimmers.

If you want a more `exotic` pool go to Vannes, Redon (half an hour away, see below photo) or Loudeac. These are the full monty, with water slides, wave machines, diving pool, fun pool, etc – great for a family day out.

The pool at Vannes has everything as well......
