Location Map

Our gites are all in sunny Southern Brittany, perfectly located for easy access to nearby beaches, local towns and a vast choice of places to visit -see the 'things to do' page. You can find us by looking at the map below

Crème and Violet are both at different ends of the village of Reminiac which is about two kilometres from Blanche and Orange. Verte is located in the village of Porcaro. La Maison Bleue in the village of Treal and Rouge is in Monterrein, just south of Ploermel

The large market towns of Guer, Malestroit, Ruffiac and Ploermel are all within ten minutes drive of each house. The ancient city of Rennes is approximately forty minutes drive to the north-east whilst cosmopolitan Nantes is seventy five minutes to the south. To the west, the fishing ports of Vannes and Damgan and their surrounding white sandy beaches are less than forty minutes by car

Below is a map of the North West of France showing our approximate location in Southern Brittany

Below is a Google Map you may find useful-

General Travel Information

DOCUMENTATION
You need to bring your Vehicle Registration, Insurance, MOT and Driving Licence. It is also advisable to take out European breakdown cover. You will need spare car bulbs, a warning triangle and a yellow jacket -that you can reach without getting out of your seat Note: Regulations seem to change all the time so please check before you travel

SPEED CAMERAS
Although there are not too many fixed cameras, they do exist, particularly on the motorways. You will see large white signs with black pictures of different vehicles followed by radar lines. Hand held speed traps are also used and normally an on the spot fine of ninety euros will be given. The speed limit on a Brittany motorway is 110Km/h. In towns and villages it is usually 50Km/h but can be as low as 30Km/h

PRIORITY TO THE RIGHT
A yellow diamond shaped sign with a white border indicates that drivers on main roads have the right of way and don’t need to give way to the right. When the sign reappears with a diagonal black line through it, then this changes back so you do have to give way to the right. This is often applied in small village squares and on country roads where cars can pull out from junctions on the right in front of you and onto the main road Unless you see give way markings on the road at the junction or a give way sign be very careful

PETROL STATIONS
Motorway and dual carriageway stations are normally manned twenty four hours. Supermarket and local petrol stations are normally manned from nine in the morning until midday and from two until seven in the afternoon. Automated twenty four hour pumps are available at all petrol stations and will take UK credit and debit cards that have a PIN number with them

CHANGING MONEY
You can use British credit /debit cards in most cash machines in France to obtain your Euros. Most banks have an cash point machine

INSURANCE
Please ensure that you are insured to drive in France and that you have adequate European Breakdown Insurance Also make sure that you have medical insurance- Both the E111 supplied by the British government and top up private medical cover

All the above travel information is advisory only. If you would like more specific details then please speak to the French embassy in the UK. We carry no responsibility for the accuracy of this information. Please note French road regulations are subject to change at any time

Health: Doctors, Dentists and Hospitals
It's important to know that there is somewhere you can get treatment in an emergency so we have found a local doctor and dentist who both speak fluent English. Full details of both of these are included in the House Folder supplied in each gite

The doctor is in Malestroit, less than ten minutes away and you can see him any day six mornings per week without an appointment
The dentist is also in Malestroit. The local A&E is at Ploermel -less than fifteen minutes away- and is open 24/7. Most doctors speak English. Ploermel hospital is large, new and very efficient. There is a huge hospital in Vannes as well- half an hour away

Internet Office
We have a free internet facility for the exclusive use of our guests This is a self contained private office with access during normal working hours (Mon-Sat). There is no need to see or speak to anyone to arrange this and you can come and go at your leisure. Access to the office is is direct and it has off-road parking

The office is locked with a combination lock and the number is supplied to you with the house directions You can use the PC (broadband) to collect e mails etc, all free of charge and in private We supply directions so you can come to the office whenever you need to use the internet
